Description
The Gen7 Commuter is a carrier that can also be buckled into a car. The seat belt latch and sholder strap assist the Pet Parent in securely restraining the carrier during travel. The Commuter easily transfers in and out of a vehicle. The sturdy structure will not collapse when the seatbelt is applied, and the seatble latch keeps the carrier in proper position. The shoulder strap rests around the headrest for added stability. A machine washable smart comfort pad is on the inside to provide extra comfort for the pet. Holds pets up to 20 lbs. Dimensions: 20"L x 9"W x 13"H

What I love :- I got this carrier for its safety testing. It’s very sturdy.- The clips for the seatbelt are great and it’s very easy to get the seatbelt in and out.- I like that it has really good airflow - this will be great with summer travelWhat I don’t love:- The wire frame is held with strong Velcro around the curve. Taking that Velcro off and putting it back is much too difficult to do every time the carrier is used so folding this up when not in use is not going to happen.- There are no pockets (for travel water dish, leash, folded paperwork etc)- There is a weird metal clip inside on a string for I presume to attach to a harness or something? I tucked it under the bed but it leaves a lump. I feel like I should probably just cut it off- There is no pocket loop to slip over the handle of rolling luggage if you are taking your pet through the airport-the airflow is nice but it’s at the expense of the security cats love (I ended up with a light blanket over the sides in the car because my kitten didn’t feel safe- the blanket quieted him down and he went to sleep), pockets, and a loop for rolling luggage (my cat is small now but he won’t before long and a 12-13lb adult cat gets heavy quick if large airports)Honestly, if you are considering this or the sleepypod air for your cat (or small dog) go with the sleepy pod. I have one of those for my other cat and I am slowly finding things like the pocket and folding that I miss. This carrier is great, it’s safe, sturdy, comfy for the pet but it’s missing features that make life so easy for vet trips and travel. If I hadn’t used it already I would return it for the other:/First, I am obsessive about safety for my dogs.Particularly when riding in the car. A car accident in 2014 resulted in seizures for my beagle mix. She was inside a standard plastic carrier and did not initially appear injured. She died a month later. Fast forward... two new small breed puppies. Their grown weight should be no more than 15 #.I purchased the Gen7 and a Sleepypod Air. Both offer excellent protection when installed as instructed.{See the crash test video.} Some of the carriers shown should come with a "do not use" warning. Both allow space for the puppy now, and in the future. With the added benefit of no free roaming through the car.I made a 1000+ mile road trip with puppies in the carrier. Both took to it well. Removed the interior pad and replaced with a bath towel. Figured it would be easier to clean in the event of a potty accident. And with potty breaks every two and 1/2 to three hours, no issues.A short trip to the vets for vaccines did not go as well. My fault, I should have held breakfast until after the visit. Both puppies were carsick and the towels caught most of it. However, the carriers were still a smelly mess. Of the two, the sleepypod air was easier to hose out. The Gen7 dried in a speedier fashion.Very happy with both but given the choice again would purchase two of the Gen7. It is rather plain but function was most important.I’ve been searching for strong and sturdy carrier for a long time. This is the one! I’ve tried multiple carriers on the market but they were very flimsy that I had to put cardboard on the bottom for extra support. Most of carriers on the market have plastic frame but this one is metal so it wont collapse. Cons; the liner is very thin. I have to put extra liner. Also, no pockets for storage.I bought this carrier because it has a 5 star safety rating and connects to the car seatbelts and headrest for safety. It is very safely secured when the seatbelts are on this carrier ... it literally can't move side to side or front to back .... it's good to know that our dog is safely secured inside. Our puppy likes that there are two ways to exit his "carseat". He can exit from the front (facing the door) directly into our arms, or from the top where he can look around to check out his new surrounding before coming into our arms. It has a soft washable insert for him to lay on, and he seems to like it. It's very roomy and he is able to curl, or lay lengthwise and stretch out. We really love this carrier. We purchased this for our medium to large cat, as the picture looked identical to one we had previously purchased at a pet store. The features are all very similar, but it is some inches smaller in every dimension, the zippers are not as good quality, the "frame" is merely 2 pieces of wire on either end. It is mildly serviceable, but not close to what we need for our larger cat. I would not recommend this for more than VERY short transports down the street and around the corner. I would definitely NOT take any long trip with a pet in this. Very disappointed. My small dogs, about six pounds each, used to be a bit nervous in the car. After I read some alarming facts about pet car injuries, I tried a harness that passed a crash test. They are so small that even the smallest harness was uncomfortable and they worked diligently at escape. I soon returned those and got soft sided carriers from the same company. Now, after the seconds it takes to secure each in their individual carrier, they quickly relax and stay relaxed for at least three hours. And, they are safe. So I also relax and drive without canine distraction. Game changer. So few car restraints for dogs pass crash tests. Every dog needs to be protected in a car. Often, the question hinges on freedom to move around the car or safety. Safety first for my pups.I recently purchased a Cavalier and had to drive a ten hour round trip to pick her up. Was looking for something that would keep my new baby safe, but comfortable. I did add an extra carrier pad to make it more cozy inside. This worked well. The carrier is sturdy and crash tested. It has two latches that the seatbelt clips into to keep the carrier secure in the car. I did stop about every 1 - 1 1/2 hours to allow her to stretch her legs, but the carrier had plenty of room for my 6 lb puppy to completely turn around in, obviously a larger dog would not have as much room.I can not recommend anyone from uk buy this as it turned up without the shoulder strap, seller refuses to send me just a shoulder strap but tells me to return and reorder which involves me paying all the shipping and import costs again coming to just over £40 they are not even offering to cover this cost. Am, really, really disappointed for the amount of money this has cost that they won’t sort this out, the description in the advert includes a shoulder strap, this is seller error and therefore should be sorted by them!easy to install, small dogs seem happyBest airport carrier ever! My pup loves it.Love this carrier. I take my Maltese everywhere I go in it
